SCARBOROUGH HARBOUR

Scarborough Harbour has been at the heart of the North Yorkshire seaside town for as long as it has existed.  Today it is home to cafes, restaurants, bars, pleasure boats, working boats and fishing boats.

It played a vital part of Britain's maritime industry over the years.  Scarborough was given the go ahead for a new port by Henry III as it was considered of great importance to Northern trade.  The fishing industry was also key to the success of the port.

It is a lovely place to go for a walk and enjoy the view from one of the three piers, head out on a speed boat ride or even try your hand at fishing.

SOUTH BAY BEACH

South bay beach is a large sandy beach with good facilities which is popular with families.  Enjoy the sunshine, build a sandcastle or take a refreshing dip in the sea.

The historic spa lies at the south end of the beach which holds live entertainment and houses the Spa Orchestra during the summer season.

A handy cliff lift provides easy access to the town in minutes.  Or walk through the gardens where you will get lovely views of the bay from the top.

Heading along the foreshore  road you will find amusement arcades, cafes, restaurants, fish and chip shops, seafood stalls and souvenir shops.
